Palermo, ME (November 15, 2024) – A teenager from China, ME, sustained serious injuries on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, after losing control of his 2002 Ford Ranger pickup truck on North Palermo Road. The crash occurred shortly after 12:00 p.m. near 1605 North Palermo Road, when the young driver veered off the roadway, striking a cement barrier and overturning.
According to Chief Roger Komandt of the Palermo Fire Department, the vehicle hit the cement barrier, which had been placed by the property owner to protect their driveway. The impact was so severe that it moved the barrier, illustrating the force of the collision.
The Waldo County Regional Communications Center received the crash report at 12:07 p.m., prompting a swift response from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, local fire departments, and EMS personnel. Emergency crews worked quickly to secure the scene and transport the critically injured driver to the hospital.
