Scott County, MO (November 14, 2024) — A bicyclist was fatally struck by a vehicle on Highway U, one mile west of Blodgett, on Wednesday evening. The crash occurred at approximately 5:19 p.m., involving a 2007 Buick LaCrosse traveling eastbound.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the vehicle, driven by a 23-year-old male from Benton, MO, collided with a 20-year-old male bicyclist who was in the roadway. The bicyclist, identified as a resident of Blodgett, MO, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Scott County Coroner Scott Branam at 5:55 p.m. The bicyclist was transported to McMikle Funeral Home.
The vehicle sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene by D & K Towing. The crash remains under investigation by Troop E and the Major Crash Investigation Unit.
This incident marks the 59th fatality reported by Troop E in 2024. Next of kin have been notified.
