Wood County, OH (November 13, 2024) – A fatal head-on collision occurred early Wednesday morning on South Dixie Highway, north of Cygnet Road, claiming the life of one driver and injuring another. The crash was reported around 6 a.m., according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities stated that 58-year-old Kurt Mazey of Weston was driving southbound on Dixie Highway when his vehicle crossed the center line, colliding head-on with a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old from Fostoria. Mazey was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 23-year-old was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation, and officials are working to determine what caused Mazey to veer left of center.
