St. George, UT (November 12, 2024) – A T-bone collision at the intersection of West Sunset Boulevard and North Dixie Downs Road left two people injured on Sunday evening. The crash occurred at approximately 7:37 p.m. in a construction zone and was witnessed by a nearby St. George Police officer approaching from the east.

According to police reports, the crash involved a red pickup truck and a black SUV. The pickup, driven by a male juvenile with two young male passengers, was heading north on Dixie Downs Rd. While making a left turn onto Sunset Blvd, the driver failed to yield to the oncoming SUV traveling southbound, resulting in the collision.

The SUV’s occupants, a husband and wife, sustained injuries. The husband reported neck and back pain, while the wife experienced chest pain from the impact. Both were transported to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the pickup truck received a citation for failing to yield.

The intersection was blocked as emergency responders, including the St. George Fire Department, the St. George Police Department, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and Gold Cross, managed the scene and provided assistance.

We wish those hurt in this crash a swift recovery.

Intersection Collisions in Utah

T-bone collisions, like the one reported in St. George, are a common type of intersection accident. These crashes often occur due to failure to yield, distracted driving, or misjudging the speed of oncoming traffic. Construction zones, like the one at Sunset Blvd and Dixie Downs Rd, can further complicate navigation, increasing the likelihood of such incidents.

Victims of intersection collisions often face injuries requiring medical attention and potentially lengthy recovery periods. Consulting legal and recovery resources is crucial to address the financial and emotional burdens associated with these accidents.

If you or a loved one has been injured in an intersection crash, access to reliable support and information is essential.
