Randolph County, IL (November 12, 2024) – Multiple emergency agencies responded to a severe head-on collision involving two vehicles on Illinois Route 13, east of Illinois Route 4, on Monday evening. The crash resulted in entrapment and multiple injuries.
First responders from Tilden Fire, MedStar, Sparta Police, and the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office worked to extricate victims trapped in the vehicles. The Illinois State Police and ARCH Air Medical Service based in Granite City were also dispatched to assist in the rescue and medical response.
Several individuals were treated for injuries at the scene. At least one victim with critical injuries was airlifted by ARCH Air Medical Service to a nearby hospital for advanced medical care. The total number of individuals involved and their conditions are still being assessed.
Traffic on IL-13 was significantly impacted as crews worked to clear the scene and investigate the circumstances leading to the collision. Authorities have not yet released information about the causes of the crash.
