The crash happened at approximately 4:31 p.m. when the southbound GMC Sierra, driven by Vicente Gomez, 54, of San Antonio, TX, collided with an eastbound Subaru Outback driven by Linda Kay Novacek, 72, of East Grand Forks, MN. Road conditions were dry at the time of the incident.
Gomez sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Altru Hospital in North Dakota for medical care. His passenger, Dinora Rangel, 47, also of San Antonio, TX, reported injuries but did not seek immediate medical attention. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, though alcohol use was confirmed for Gomez.
