Detroit, MI (November 10, 2024) – A tragic three-car crash on Detroit’s east side claimed the life of a 7-year-old boy and critically injured his 5-year-old sibling Saturday evening. The crash occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of 7 Mile and Mound.
According to police, a 25-year-old driver failed to stop at a traffic light, colliding with two other vehicles. The 7-year-old boy and his younger sibling were in one of the cars struck by the vehicle. The boy tragically died at the scene, while his 5-year-old sibling was rushed to a local hospital with critical injuries.
Other passengers involved in the crash suffered minor injuries. The 25-year-old driver initially fled the scene but returned two hours later, where he was arrested. Authorities suspect alcohol was a contributing factor in the collision.
