Sumter, SC (November 10, 2024) – A tragic single-vehicle collision early Saturday morning claimed the life of a 22-year-old woman, according to the Sumter County Coroner’s Office. Meagan Hudson, a resident of Sumter County, was identified as the victim of the crash, which occurred around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Pinewood and Wedgefield Roads.
Details about the cause of the crash and Hudson’s role in the vehicle remain unclear. It is not yet known whether she was the driver or a passenger, and information about seat belt usage has not been released.
Emergency responders transported Hudson to Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. No other injuries were reported in connection with the accident.
The Sumter Police Department and the Sumter County Coroner’s Office are continuing to investigate the collision. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, according to Coroner Robbie Baker.
