Compton, CA (November 10, 2024) – A multi-vehicle collision involving an overturned truck occurred on westbound State Route 91 near Long Beach Boulevard early Sunday morning. The crash, reported at approximately 5:16 a.m., resulted in significant traffic disruptions and injuries.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident involved a white SUV or truck and another vehicle. Two smaller sedans reportedly fled the scene. One of the involved trucks overturned onto its roof, blocking multiple lanes. Fire crews from Compton were dispatched to the scene, and paramedics treated a driver with lacerations to the head who remained awake and conscious.
The collision initially blocked two right lanes and later required a traffic break for towing services. A heavy-duty tow truck was called to remove the overturned vehicle. By 7:00 a.m., all lanes were reopened after the scene was cleared.
CHP is investigating the crash to determine the sequence of events, including reports that one vehicle attempted to use the right shoulder to pass traffic before striking a parked vehicle.
Our thoughts are with those injured in this incident, and we hope for their full recovery.
