Belleview, FL (November 7, 2024) – Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers are actively searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run incident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in injuries to a 12-year-old girl. The incident took place around 4 p.m. as the girl was walking on the shoulder of Southeast 36th Avenue (County Road 467), just south of 107th Place.
Witnesses reported that the vehicle involved in the collision was a white 4-door pickup truck towing a utility trailer. After striking the child, the driver did not stop to render aid and continued heading east on 36th Avenue. Fortunately, the victim sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and is receiving medical attention.
The Florida Highway Patrol is urging anyone with information regarding the driver or the vehicle to come forward and contact the FHP Regional Communications Center at 904-359-6572.
