St. Charles, MO (November 6, 2024) – A serious multi-vehicle collision occurred on Monday evening at approximately 8:25 p.m. on Westbound Interstate 70, just east of Route Z. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of the incident, which involved three vehicles.
According to the investigation conducted by TPR. R. Oosthuizen, the accident involved a 2023 Lucid Air, a 2024 Buick Envista, and a 2020 Volvo VNL-780. The Lucid Air, driven by a 37-year-old male from Wentzville, MO, was declared a total loss and was towed by Superior Towing. The Buick Envista, driven by a 16-year-old male from Warrenton, MO, also sustained total damage and was towed by Budget Towing. The Volvo VNL-780, driven by a 47-year-old male from Brooklyn, NY, suffered moderate damage but was able to be driven from the scene.
Preliminary reports indicate that all three vehicles were traveling westbound on Interstate 70. The driver of the Lucid Air was traveling too fast for the road conditions and failed to maintain his lane. As a result, the right front of the Lucid struck the left rear of the Buick, causing it to rotate clockwise and collide with the concrete median wall. The Lucid Air continued in lane 2 and subsequently struck the trailer of the Volvo, becoming lodged underneath it.
The driver of the Lucid Air sustained serious injuries and was transported by St. Charles County Ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis for further evaluation and treatment. Fortunately, all drivers involved were reported to be wearing their safety devices at the time of the accident.
Emergency responders from the St. Charles County area, including local law enforcement, assisted at the scene to manage the situation and ensure the safety of everyone involved. The incident remains under investigation by local authorities.
