Southfield, MI (November 5, 2024) – A tragic fire incident occurred on Monday, November 4, at the Le Chateau apartments located on Southfield Road, near 10 Mile Road, resulting in the death of a 73-year-old woman. The fire broke out in a second-story apartment and rapidly spread, leading to significant destruction.
Emergency responders reported that three individuals suffered minor injuries due to smoke inhalation, while another person was hospitalized for further evaluation. The severity of the blaze prompted fire crews from six neighboring communities to assist in extinguishing the fire, which ultimately caused the roof of the building to collapse. In total, 32 apartment homes were either damaged or completely destroyed in the incident.
