Mahopac, NY (November 5, 2024) – A serious three-vehicle accident occurred on Monday, resulting in three individuals being transported to the hospital for medical treatment. The incident took place at the intersection of Route 6 and Croton Falls Road, directly across from the Mahopac Fire Department headquarters.
According to Carmel Police Lieutenant Michael Bodo, the crash was initiated by a 32-year-old man from Greenwich, Connecticut. Albert Roloff was driving an Audi westbound on Croton Falls Road at a high rate of speed when he allegedly disregarded a steady red light at the intersection. As a result, he collided with a Mercedes operated by 68-year-old Luigi Ruidovic from Carmel, who was traveling southbound on Route 6.
The force of the collision caused both vehicles to spin out of control, subsequently slamming into a Subaru driven by 61-year-old Laura Schmidt-Develutti from Mahopac, which was stopped at the intersection.
Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene, and Roloff was transported by ambulance to Putnam Hospital Center for treatment of head trauma. Schmidt-Develutti and her 67-year-old passenger were also taken to Danbury Hospital for evaluation of head and chest pain.
Authorities have cited Roloff for disregarding a traffic control device and for unreasonable speed. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and police are working to gather further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the crash.
