Lafayette County, MO (November 4, 2024) – A serious vehicle collision occurred early Saturday morning on Interstate 70 Westbound at the 67.2 mile marker. The incident was reported at approximately 6:25 a.m., prompting a swift response from local emergency services.
Preliminary reports indicate that the accident involved two vehicles: a 2017 Ford Focus and a 2017 Ford F150, both traveling westbound. The Ford Focus, driven by a 28-year-old male from Wichita, Kansas, hydroplaned into the path of the Ford F150, which was driven by a 54-year-old male from Abilene, Texas. The impact resulted in total damage to both vehicles, which were subsequently towed by Meyer Motors.
Both drivers were wearing safety devices at the time of the accident. The driver of the Ford Focus, along with a 23-year-old female occupant from Scio, New York, sustained injuries and were transported by Sweet Springs EMS to Bothwell Regional Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
