Platte County, MO (November 3, 2024) – A serious traffic accident occurred on Saturday evening at approximately 7:30 p.m. on the southbound lanes of Interstate 29, near the 17.6 mile marker. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of a collision involving a single vehicle.
According to the crash report investigated by TPR J.R. Boydston, the incident involved a 2023 Ford Expedition, which was traveling southbound when it veered off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then traveled down an embankment, striking several trees before coming to a stop. The impact resulted in the Ford Expedition being deemed a total loss and necessitated an express tow from the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, a 38-year-old female from Eldon, MO, was wearing a safety device at the time of the crash. However, a 39-year-old male occupant, also from Eldon, sustained serious injuries and was transported to North Kansas City Hospital for medical treatment.
The accident caused significant disruptions in traffic as authorities worked to clear the scene and conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. The Platte County Sheriff’s Department, along with TPR J.L. Colwell and TPR A.M. Storey, assisted at the scene.
