Jefferson County, MO (November 2, 2024) – A significant motor vehicle crash occurred on November 1 at approximately 6:35 p.m. on southbound Highway E at Sunrise School Road. The incident involved two vehicles and resulted in injuries to the occupants.
According to the crash report investigated by TPR. M.D. Benson, a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, driven by a 38-year-old male from De Soto, MO, was traveling southbound and preparing to make a left turn onto Sunrise School Road. At the same time, an 18-year-old male operating a 2008 Yamaha 450 YFZ was traveling northbound on Highway E without a headlamp displayed. As the Chevrolet made the left turn, the front of the Yamaha struck the right side of the Impala.
The collision resulted in extensive damage to both vehicles, with the Chevrolet Impala being towed by Shanks Towing and the Yamaha being towed by personal conveyance.
In terms of injuries, the juvenile male passenger in the Chevrolet, aged 11, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital Jefferson by personal conveyance. The driver of the Yamaha, the 18-year-old male, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis by Air Evac #8.
