Pine Island, MN (November 2, 2024) – A traffic accident occurred this morning on Highway 52, resulting in injuries to one individual. At approximately 7:05 a.m., emergency responders were called to the scene of a collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Southbound Highway 52 and 490th Street in Pine Island Township, Goodhue County.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2021 GMC Acadia, driven by 19-year-old Ridwan Mahamed Jama from Rochester, MN, was traveling southbound when it collided with a crane truck, a 2000 Terex T340. The impact was significant enough to deploy the airbags in the GMC Acadia. Fortunately, the road conditions were dry at the time of the incident, which may have mitigated the severity of the crash.
Emergency services, including the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office, responded promptly to the scene. Ridwan Mahamed Jama sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, and there was no alcohol involved.
The driver of the crane truck, 24-year-old Paul William Neeley, whose city of residence is currently unknown, did not sustain any injuries and did not require medical attention. He was also wearing his seatbelt during the incident, and alcohol was not a factor for him either.
