Albany, GA (October 30, 2024) – A devastating incident occurred early Sunday morning, resulting in the deaths of three passengers and serious injuries to the driver of a white Mercedes-Benz sedan. The tragic events unfolded at approximately 1:05 a.m. on October 27, when Georgia State Patrol troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was recorded traveling at 75 mph in a 40 mph zone on Dawson Road.
As troopers approached to make the stop, the driver made a sudden turn onto Magnolia Street, prompting law enforcement to activate their emergency lights and sirens. Rather than complying, the driver fled south on Magnolia Street, reportedly driving recklessly and accelerating over railroad tracks at high speed. Witnesses described the vehicle becoming airborne before crashing, leading to a catastrophic outcome.
Upon arrival at the crash site, troopers found the driver still inside the vehicle, suffering from injuries to the head and face. After questioning the driver, officers discovered three male passengers who had been ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Tragically, all three were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment. The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Our hearts go out to the families and friends affected by this tragic incident.
