Vermilion, OH (October 30, 2024) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is currently investigating an incident that resulted in a passenger being struck by a vehicle in Vermilion. The accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. at mile marker 23 on US-6.
According to a press release from OSHP, the driver of a pickup truck was operating the vehicle with a malfunctioning side door. As the driver exited the Patio Tavern Bar, the passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, fell out of the truck and onto the roadway. Tragically, the driver subsequently ran over the passenger after they fell.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to assist, and the passenger was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not yet been disclosed.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the specific circumstances that led to this unfortunate incident.
