Millburn, NJ (October 29, 2024) – A significant house fire in Millburn early Sunday morning resulted in injuries to three residents, a police officer, and a firefighter. The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. at a residence on Old Short Hills Road, where flames and smoke were reported pouring from the two-and-a-half-story house.
According to authorities, the fire also damaged a vehicle parked in the driveway and spread to a neighboring home. Emergency responders, including the Millburn Police Department and local fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to combat the blaze.
Two residents managed to escape the fire, while police officers, who arrived first, acted quickly to rescue the third resident from the house under extremely dangerous conditions. All three individuals from the home were subsequently hospitalized, although no immediate updates on their conditions have been provided.
In addition to the residents, a Millburn police officer was treated for smoke inhalation, and an Irvington firefighter experienced a medical condition during the response.
The fire was extinguished by approximately 3:55 a.m., and the cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
