Storey County, NV (October 29, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on October 14, 2024, at approximately 6:37 p.m. on State Route 439, resulting in the death of a driver. According to the Nevada State Police, the incident involved two vehicles, including a black 2000 Toyota Tundra and a 2023 Toyota 4Runner.
Initial investigations revealed that the Toyota Tundra, driven by 82-year-old Jimmy Rumelhart of Antioch, California, was traveling the wrong way, heading north in the southbound lane. At the same time, the Toyota 4Runner was proceeding south when the two vehicles collided in a front-end crash.
Both drivers were transported to Renown Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries, which were reported to be moderate to serious. Unfortunately, Jimmy Rumelhart succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the hospital.
