Brick, NJ (October 25, 2024) – A tragic motorcycle accident occurred on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at approximately 2:34 p.m. at the intersection of Brick Boulevard and Yorktowne Boulevard. The incident involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck, leading to the fatal injury of the motorcycle operator.
According to preliminary reports from the Brick Township Police Department, the motorcycle, operated by 64-year-old Horace Giambona, was traveling north on Brick Boulevard in the left lane as it approached the intersection with Yorktowne Boulevard. Simultaneously, a 2013 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by 56-year-old Rick Stamm was also heading north but had stopped in traffic to allow an ambulance with its emergency lights and siren activated to enter the intersection.
As Mr. Giambona attempted to stop, he lost control of the motorcycle, which skidded prior to reaching the intersection. In an effort to regain control, he laid the motorcycle down on its right side, resulting in him being ejected from the vehicle. The motorcycle then continued sliding and made contact with the left rear of the pickup truck. Following the collision, the motorcycle came to rest in the right travel lane of Brick Boulevard, just north of the intersection.
Emergency responders from the Brick Township Police Department and local medical services arrived promptly at the scene. Mr. Giambona was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
The Brick Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this accident. During the investigation, northbound traffic on Brick Boulevard was closed and detoured for approximately two hours.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Mr. Giambona during this incredibly difficult time.
