Franklin, MO (October 25, 2024) – A traffic accident occurred on Thursday morning on Highway 47 Southbound, just south of Melinda Drive, leading to injuries. At approximately 11:24 a.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of a collision between two vehicles.
Preliminary investigations indicate that both vehicles, a 2024 GMC Sierra driven by 74-year-old Robert D. Moad from Jefferson City, MO, and a 2021 Ford Escape operated by 67-year-old Phyllis L. Chapman from Union, MO, swerved to the right to avoid slowed traffic ahead. As a result, the front of the Ford Escape struck the rear of the GMC Sierra. The impact caused extensive damage to the Ford Escape, which was subsequently towed from the scene, while the GMC Sierra sustained moderate damage and was driven away by its driver.
Phyllis L. Chapman was transported by Union Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital Washington for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident. Thankfully, both drivers were wearing their safety devices at the time of the incident.
