Salado, TX (October 24, 2024) – A tragic two-vehicle accident occurred on Wednesday evening on Thomas Arnold Road, resulting in the death of a Killeen woman. The crash was reported to authorities at approximately 5:18 p.m. at the location of 5471 Thomas Arnold Road.
According to a news release from DPS Sgt. Bryan Washko, a 2017 Honda Accord, driven by 49-year-old Kimberly Kosh-Ruiz of Killeen, was traveling westbound on Thomas Arnold Road when it collided with a 1988 Ford pickup operated by a 26-year-old male from Salado, who was traveling eastbound. Preliminary investigations suggest that one of the vehicles failed to yield half of the roadway, leading to the collision.
Both Ruiz and a 9-year-old male passenger were transported to Scott & White ER for treatment of their injuries. Unfortunately, Ruiz succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff shortly after arrival. The driver of the Ford pickup was also transported to the hospital but is reported to have sustained non-incapacitating injuries.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident. Authorities have notified the next of kin regarding the incident.
