Slippery Rock Township, PA (October 23, 2024) – A three-vehicle motor vehicle accident (MVA) occurred on Wednesday morning at approximately 7:47 a.m. at the intersection of Route 8 and Kiester Road. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene following reports of injuries, including one neck injury and the involvement of a school bus.
Initial reports indicated that Stations 33, 14, and 52 were called to assist with the incident. Due to a bridge being out on Kiester Road, units were redirected to Branchton Road to access the scene safely. As responders arrived, they found a rear-end-style collision involving multiple vehicles, including a school bus, which added to the complexity of the situation.
By 7:55 a.m., the first responders on the scene began assessing the situation and coordinating traffic control to manage the heavy backlog of vehicles. Emergency responders from Station 33 set up for traffic control to ensure safety for both the victims and other motorists.
As the situation developed, it was reported that two patients at the scene refused transport to the hospital. However, by 8:15 a.m., one individual requiring advanced life support (ALS) was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital (BMH) by EMS unit 52-3.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., additional resources were added to the assignment, with Station 52-2 marking the scene to assist with the ongoing response. By 8:35 a.m., this unit was also transporting a patient requiring ALS to BMH, with another unit responding to provide support.
