Vernon, NY (October 23, 2024) – A three-car accident occurred on Tuesday, October 22, on State Route 5, resulting in two individuals being sent to the hospital. According to the Oneida County Sheriffs, emergency responders were called to the scene following reports of the collision.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the first vehicle, operated by 62-year-old Wendy Yaddow of Vernon, rear-ended a second vehicle driven by 43-year-old Chad Albro, also from Vernon. Albro was reportedly stopped in traffic, preparing to make a turn when the accident took place. The impact of Yaddow’s vehicle caused Albro’s car to be propelled into the westbound lane, where it collided with a third vehicle operated by 53-year-old Cathi Iannone of Whitesboro. Iannone attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to do so.
Following the incident, Yaddow was issued two traffic tickets for unsafe speed and following too closely. Both tickets are set to be addressed in Vernon Town Court at a later date. Although Yaddow was evaluated at the scene for injuries, she declined further treatment. Albro was also assessed on-site and did not report any injuries.
Iannone, however, was transported to Oneida Health Hospital due to complaints of neck and shoulder pain, and her current condition remains unknown.
Emergency responders from the Oneida County Sheriffs were assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, the Vernon Fire Department, and the Vineall Ambulance Company of Oneida.
