Bowling Green, KY (October 22, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Friday evening in Adair County that resulted in the death of a pedestrian. At approximately 7:30 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 15 troopers responded to a two-vehicle injury collision on Greensburg Road.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a 1995 Chevrolet 1500 pickup, driven by 36-year-old Samuel Derossett of Columbia, was parked in the northbound lane of Greensburg Road facing south. Nearby, a pedestrian, 54-year-old Chad Pegg of Greensburg, was standing near the front of the parked pickup.
As the incident unfolded, 74-year-old Norma Shirley of Columbia was traveling north on Greensburg Road when her vehicle collided with both the Chevrolet pickup and Pegg. Tragically, Chad Pegg was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Adair County Coroner. Both drivers, Samuel Derossett and Norma Shirley, were transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital and the University of Louisville Hospital, respectively, with serious injuries.
Emergency responders from the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Adair County Fire and EMS, and the Adair County Rescue Squad assisted at the scene. The investigation into the collision is ongoing, led by Senior Trooper Dean Lunz.
