Brooklyn, NY (October 22, 2024) – Police are currently investigating a serious multi-vehicle accident that occurred on Monday, October 21, in the Gravesend section of Brooklyn. The incident took place around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ocean Parkway and Avenue V, resulting in 17 individuals being hospitalized.
According to preliminary reports, a vehicle occupied by two 54-year-old women was traveling southbound on Ocean Parkway when it rear-ended another vehicle. This initial collision set off a chain reaction, causing the struck vehicle to hit four additional vehicles. The vehicle with the two women subsequently side-swiped another car, further complicating the situation.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded promptly to the scene, transporting 17 people to local hospitals for medical evaluation and treatment. Notably, an 18th individual at the scene refused medical attention. Among those injured were a diverse range of ages, including a 13-year-old, a 10-year-old, two 3-year-olds, a 9-month-old, a 1-year-old, and a 2-month-old. Fortunately, police have reported that all victims are expected to survive their injuries.
