Darke County, OH (October 21, 2024) – A serious accident involving two semi-trucks occurred on October 19, resulting in two individuals being hospitalized. The incident took place around 10:44 p.m. at the intersection of US Route 127 and State Route 705, prompting a response from local deputies and emergency medical services.
According to preliminary investigations, a Freightliner truck hauling yogurt was traveling west on State Route 705 when it failed to yield the right of way to a Peterbilt truck that was heading north on US Route 127, carrying a load of eggs. The collision resulted in the Peterbilt striking the Freightliner, causing both vehicles and their trailers to overturn.
The driver of the Peterbilt, identified as 25-year-old Kristopher Bahner from Lima, Ohio, had to be extricated from his vehicle and was subsequently transported to Wayne Healthcare for suspected non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Freightliner, 39-year-old Azamat Mukumov from Brooklyn, New York, was also taken to Wayne Healthcare for precautionary measures.
