Jefferson, MO (October 18, 2024) – A tragic traffic accident occurred on the morning of October 17, 2024, at approximately 11:14 AM on Northbound U.S. Highway 67 at Meyer Road. The incident prompted an immediate response from emergency services, including law enforcement and medical teams.
According to preliminary reports, the collision involved two vehicles: a 2006 Toyota Corolla and a 2022 Silver Subaru Ascent. The driver of the Toyota, 44-year-old Todd T. Tyson from DeSoto, MO, tragically lost his life in the crash. It is reported that the Toyota was traveling behind the Subaru when both drivers failed to maintain a proper lookout for the traffic signal. The Subaru attempted to stop for a red signal but began to slide into the intersection, resulting in the front of the Toyota striking the rear of the Subaru.
Emergency responders from Joachim-Plattin Ambulance District transported Todd Tyson to Mercy Hospital – Jefferson, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Additionally, 28-year-old Cristia J. Cheatham, an occupant of the Toyota, sustained serious injuries and was also taken to Mercy Hospital – Jefferson for treatment. The driver of the Subaru, 71-year-old Gerald J. Feuling from Pearland, Texas, suffered minor injuries and was transported to the same hospital. His passenger, 75-year-old Catherine L. Feuling, also sustained serious injuries and was treated at the hospital.
