Cape Girardeau, MO (October 17, 2024) – A tragic traffic accident occurred on October 16, 2024, at approximately 2:28 PM on MO 72 in Millersville, resulting in multiple injuries and fatalities. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of a serious collision involving three vehicles.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident involved a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by 84-year-old Charles W. Davis from Jackson, MO, a 2021 Jeep Summit operated by 43-year-old Amanda L. Wolfmeier from Sedgewickville, MO, and a 2019 Toyota Tundra driven by 60-year-old Dell R. Janke from Marquand, MO. The incident reportedly began when the Chevrolet Equinox crossed the centerline of the roadway, colliding head-on with the Jeep Summit before striking the Toyota Tundra.
The impact of the collision was devastating. The Chevrolet Equinox was deemed a total loss, while both the Jeep Summit and Toyota Tundra sustained extensive damage. All vehicles were towed from the scene by local towing services.
Emergency medical personnel transported Amanda Wolfmeier to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for treatment of moderate injuries. Unfortunately, both Charles Davis and his passenger, 87-year-old Shelba J. Davis, were pronounced dead at the hospital. Charles Davis was declared deceased at 6:57 PM, while Shelba Davis was pronounced at 5:02 PM, both by Dr. Jason Loden.
