Lubbock, TX (October 17, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred early Wednesday morning on South Loop 289, resulting in the death of 38-year-old Leland Taylor. The Lubbock Police Department reported that the collision took place around 2:11 a.m. when a car and a pickup truck crashed.
According to police, the accident involved a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Ricardo Ferreyra, who was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of the 3600 block of South Loop 289. Leland Taylor was driving in the correct lanes of travel when the two vehicles collided. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene.
In addition to Taylor, Kirstin Gallemore, a 29-year-old passenger in the pickup truck, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to University Medical Center for treatment. Ferreyra also suffered serious injuries and was taken to Covenant Medical Center by EMS.
The Lubbock Police Department has stated that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
