Lubbock, TX (October 16, 2024) – A tragic overnight crash near South Loop 289 and Indiana Avenue resulted in one fatality and two individuals suffering moderate injuries. The Lubbock Police Department received reports of a reckless driver around 2:00 a.m. on October 16, and responded to the scene in the 3600 block of South Loop 289.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two vehicles involved in a collision. The two individuals who sustained moderate injuries were promptly transported to University Medical Center for medical care. Unfortunately, one person involved in the accident was pronounced dead at the scene.
As a result of the crash, eastbound lanes on South Loop 289 were closed from Indiana Avenue to Slide Road, and traffic was diverted to the Quaker Avenue Exit. The Lubbock Police Department advised drivers to avoid the area while they conducted their investigation.
