Dekalb, MO (October 14, 2024) – A traffic accident occurred on October 14, 2024, at approximately 6:42 AM on US-169 at CR 245, resulting in injuries and significant vehicle damage.
Preliminary reports indicate that the collision involved two vehicles traveling westbound on US-169. The driver of a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, Hunter T. Grimes, aged 23, failed to slow down as the driver of a 2014 Toyota Camry, Richard M. Heidle, aged 41, slowed to make a turn into a parking lot. The Silverado struck the rear of the Camry, leading to a chain reaction that caused both vehicles to slide off the roadway.
Emergency responders from Grand River EMS were dispatched to the scene to provide medical assistance. Hunter T. Grimes sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph for further evaluation and treatment. Both vehicles were extensively damaged and were towed by Blue Knight.
