Republic, OH (October 14, 2024) – A tragic motorcycle accident occurred on October 13 at the junction of Ohio State Route 19 and Ohio State Route 18 in the Village of Republic, resulting in the death of a 71-year-old man. William Owsley, a resident of Fremont, was traveling southbound on his 2016 Harley Davidson around 2 p.m. when he collided with a vehicle driven by 66-year-old Diane Fisher, also from Fremont.
Reports indicate that Fisher was stopped at the stop sign for Ohio 18 while traveling southbound on Ohio 19 in her 2010 Chevrolet Silverado when the collision took place. Owsley was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, which contributed to the severity of his injuries.
Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene, and Owsley was transported to ProMedica Toledo Hospital by Life Flight. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday. Fisher, who was wearing her seatbelt, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital by Seneca County EMS. As of Monday, she is no longer listed as a patient.
The Ohio Highway Patrol is currently investigating the incident and was assisted at the scene by several agencies, including the Republic Fire Department, the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Republic Police, Seneca County EMS, Life Flight, and Wilcox Garage.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of William Owsley during this difficult time.
