Cedar Rapids, IA (October 12, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on October 11, resulting in the deaths of two individuals in Mahaska County. Authorities reported that a Subaru Outback was traveling eastbound on Highway 161 near Oskaloosa at approximately 8:45 PM when it collided with a John Deere tractor pulling a tiller.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the tractor was on the right shoulder and began to merge left into the lane when the Subaru struck the back end of the tiller, causing significant damage to the front of the vehicle. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but unfortunately, both the driver and passenger of the Subaru succumbed to their injuries.
