Hartley County, TX (October 11, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Thursday morning, October 10, 2024, resulting in the death of one individual near Hartley County. The incident took place around 6:40 a.m. when 31-year-old Jesus Castillo-Rosas of Dumas, Texas, was driving a 2022 Mack truck tractor towing a semi-trailer westbound on FM 281.
According to officials, a 2015 Volvo truck tractor towing a semi-trailer exited a private drive and turned right to travel east on FM 281. During this maneuver, the semi-trailer detached from the Volvo’s truck tractor and came to rest across both lanes of travel. Unfortunately, Castillo-Rosas was unable to avoid a collision and struck the detached semi-trailer. The impact caused the trailer to turn around and roll over onto its side in the south ditch.
After the collision, Castillo-Rosas continued traveling west before coming to a final rest in the north ditch. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
