Phoenix, AZ (October 10, 2024) – The Phoenix Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in its investigation of a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred on Tuesday night. The crash took place in the area of Camelback Road and 43rd Avenue, just north of US 60/Grand Avenue.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene around 8:15 PM after receiving multiple reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a woman. According to the police, witnesses described the woman as having run into the roadway in what appeared to be a possible suicide attempt prior to the crash. Upon arrival, officers found the woman deceased at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released.
The initial collision occurred while the woman was crossing the street in the middle of the block. She was struck by a passenger car traveling north on 43rd Avenue. Following the collision, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene.
In addition to the initial crash, two other vehicles subsequently struck the victim. Fortunately, both drivers of these vehicles remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators from the Phoenix Police Department.
