Brunswick Twp, MN (October 10, 2024) – A traffic accident occurred on October 8, 2024, resulting in injuries. At approximately 2:05 p.m., emergency responders were called to the scene of a collision at the intersection of Highway 65 and Wren Way in Kanabec County.
According to preliminary reports, a 2004 Chevy Impala was traveling southbound on Highway 65, preparing to turn left onto Wren Way when it was rear-ended by a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek. Fortunately, the road conditions were dry at the time of the incident, which may have contributed to the overall safety of the scene.
Emergency personnel responded promptly to the situation. The driver of the Subaru, 44-year-old Eddie George Mariner from Mora, was not reported to have sustained any injuries and was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. The airbag in his vehicle deployed during the collision, but he declined medical attention.
The driver of the Chevy Impala, a 17-year-old male from Cambridge, also reported no injuries and was wearing a seat belt. He was accompanied by a 16-year-old female passenger from Mora, who similarly did not suffer any injuries. However, there was a young child, Barnes Jay Sawyer, also from Mora, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to First Light Hospital in Mora for medical evaluation.
The Kanabec County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the crash to determine the sequence of events leading up to the collision.
