Beulah, AL (October 8, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Sunday night, resulting in the death of a grandmother in Beulah. According to reports, 59-year-old Tonya K. Moore was struck by a vehicle while walking on Lee Road 270. She succumbed to her injuries at East Alabama Medical Center at 7:50 p.m. CST.
The Lee County Coroner, Daniel Sexton, confirmed the details of the incident. In addition to Moore, a 2-year-old child was also hit by the vehicle and was airlifted to a hospital in Atlanta. The current condition of the child remains unknown.
Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones stated that Moore and the toddler were returning to their car after attending a fall festival event at a local church when the accident occurred. Following the incident, Moore’s body has been sent for an autopsy in Montgomery.
