Boone County, IN (October 8, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred Monday morning in Boone County, resulting in the death of one individual. Shortly after 10:30 a.m., deputies with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a serious crash in the vicinity of 8800 West 300 South.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered a pickup truck and a Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) on the roadway. Preliminary investigations revealed that both vehicles were traveling west on County Road 300 South when the UTV attempted to make a turn into a local farm. At that moment, the pickup truck was in the process of passing the UTV, leading to a collision.
The driver of the UTV, identified as 61-year-old Stacey Sutphin from Jamestown, was transported to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was unharmed and remained at the scene, cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.
The Boone County Fatal Alcohol Crash Team was also on the scene to assist with the investigation. Authorities continue to look into the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident.
