Bridgeport, CT (October 7, 2024) – A serious pedestrian accident occurred on Sunday night, leaving a 45-year-old man in critical condition after being struck by an SUV. Emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of North Avenue and Center Street Extension just before 11:10 p.m. following multiple reports of a pedestrian who had been hit by a black SUV.
According to Sgt. Darryl Wilson of the Bridgeport Police Department, callers indicated that the pedestrian was unresponsive on the ground when first responders arrived. Officers from the Bridgeport Police Department, along with members of the Bridgeport Fire Department and American Medical Response, provided immediate medical assistance to the victim before he was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center. The man suffered serious injuries and was listed in critical condition.
The driver of the SUV, identified as a 38-year-old Bridgeport resident, did not report any injuries and remained at the scene of the accident, cooperating with authorities.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the SUV, a 2012 Audi Q7, was traveling east on North Avenue when it struck the pedestrian as he attempted to cross from North Avenue to Center Street Extension. The collision occurred in the eastbound lane of the roadway.
