Clay, MO (October 7, 2024) – A traffic accident occurred on October 6, 2024, at approximately 5:15 PM at the intersection of Hwy 210 and Hwy N. Emergency responders from Clay County were dispatched to the scene following reports of a collision involving two vehicles.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by a 16-year-old male from Belton, MO, was traveling southbound when the accident occurred. It is believed that the Malibu failed to yield at the intersection, resulting in a collision with a westbound 2005 Chevrolet Silverado operated by 27-year-old Austin L. Gamble from Richmond, MO. The force of the impact caused the Malibu to run off the right side of the roadway, while the Silverado veered off the left side. Both vehicles sustained significant damage, with the Malibu being declared a total loss and the Silverado suffering extensive damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Shoemakers Towing.
Injuries were reported as a result of the crash. The driver of the Malibu, along with his passenger, 20-year-old Serenity Apfel, both sustained injuries. The juvenile driver was transported by private conveyance to Children’s Mercy Hospital for medical evaluation. Serenity Apfel was transported by the Excelsior Springs Fire Department to the same hospital with serious injuries. In the Silverado, two occupants were also injured: 28-year-old Hope M. Gamble, who sustained serious injuries and was transported to Liberty Hospital, and 45-year-old Andrea R. James, who suffered moderate injuries and was also taken to Liberty Hospital.
