Rogersville, MO (October 5, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred Friday morning, October 4 at the intersection of State Highway 125 and Farm Road 186, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. The incident was reported by the Rogersville Police Department (RPD) around 10:30 AM.
According to initial investigations, the pedestrian was in the process of putting out a sign and was waving on an eastbound Toyota Camry that was stopped at the intersection on Farm Road 186. As the pedestrian attempted to cross, a northbound Lexus SUV traveling down the hill on Highway 125 failed to stop in time and collided with the Camry. The impact caused the Camry to strike a nearby fence.
The force of the collision propelled the Lexus SUV off the road, where it struck the pedestrian northeast of the intersection. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and fire crews arrived on the scene and performed CPR on the pedestrian, managing to stabilize him enough to transport him to the hospital. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. Authorities have notified the next of kin regarding the tragic accident.
The driver of the Toyota Camry sustained a leg injury and was taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, where she is reported to be in stable condition. The driver of the Lexus SUV suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.
The Rogersville Police Department is conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
