Gentry, MO (October 5, 2024) – A serious traffic accident occurred on Friday evening, October 4 at approximately 5:54 PM on MO 48 at the intersection with Route CC, located one mile west of King City. The incident involved two vehicles and is currently under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
According to the crash report, the accident involved a 2001 Chevrolet 1/2 ton truck and a 2003 GMC truck. The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 43-year-old Tiffany R. Cruz from Rea, MO, was traveling westbound when the crash occurred. The GMC truck, driven by 74-year-old David Horsman from Clarksdale, MO, was attempting to turn east onto MO 48 when it failed to yield to the oncoming Chevrolet.
The collision resulted in significant damage to both vehicles, which were subsequently towed from the scene. Cruz was examined by emergency medical services (EMS) at the scene but refused treatment for her minor injuries. In contrast, two individuals sustained serious injuries: Linda S. Applegarth, a 71-year-old occupant in the Chevrolet, was airlifted by Life Flight Eagle to Truman Medical Center, while driver David Horsman was transported to Mosaic Life by Grand River Ambulance.
The crash blocked MO 48, prompting a response from additional emergency services, including the Gentry County Sheriff’s Department and King City Rural Fire Department.
