Turner Butler Boulevard (JTB) late Friday night,October 4 resulting in the death of a 15-year-old boy and serious injuries to three other teenagers. The incident took place around 10 p.m. as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
According to troopers, three vehicles—a Lexus GS, a Dodge Charger, and a Genesis GV70—were traveling westbound on JTB at Southside Boulevard when the crash occurred. The Lexus reportedly struck the Dodge Charger, causing it to collide with the Genesis. The impact caused the Lexus to roll multiple times, leading to devastating consequences for the passengers.
One of the passengers in the Lexus, a 15-year-old boy from Jacksonville, was ejected from the vehicle and tragically lost his life in the crash. The driver of the Lexus, a 16-year-old boy also from Jacksonville, sustained serious injuries, along with two other passengers in the vehicle—a 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy—who both suffered serious injuries as well.
The driver of the Dodge Charger, identified as a 27-year-old man from Middleburg, escaped with only minor injuries. Similarly, the driver of the Genesis, a 51-year-old woman from Jacksonville, also reported minor injuries.
The crash led to the closure of all westbound lanes of JTB near Belfort Road for several hours as emergency responders and investigators worked at the scene. The lanes have since reopened, but the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
