Lakeshore, LA (October 2, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday night, October 1 resulting in the death of a pedestrian on LA-139 near Curve Drive. At approximately 10:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop F began their investigation into the fatal crash involving 31-year-old James Zeren from Monroe.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a 2013 Ford Edge was traveling north on LA-139 when it struck Zeren, who was also walking north in the same lane while wearing dark clothing. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation, and it remains unclear why the collision occurred. Unfortunately, Zeren suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford was properly restrained and reported no injuries.
While impairment is not suspected in this case, routine toxicology samples were collected from the driver and will be submitted for analysis. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
