Raleigh, NC (October 2, 2024) – A devastating kitchen fire in an apartment claimed the lives of two young children early Sunday morning. The incident occurred on the 1800 block of Cantwell Court, prompting a swift response from the Raleigh Fire Department shortly after 6 a.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a small fire that had erupted in the kitchen. Fortunately, the flames were quickly extinguished; however, the aftermath was tragic. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported a 1-year-old and a 4-year-old child to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. Sadly, both children later succumbed to their injuries.
The children’s mother was the only other occupant in the apartment at the time of the fire. Fortunately, she did not report any injuries.
