Shreveport, LA (September 30, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Friday afternoon, September 27 involving two police officers, resulting in one officer’s death and another sustaining injuries. The incident took place around 2 p.m. in the 6500 block of West 70th Street at Broadacres Road.
According to the Shreveport Police Department, more than a dozen police units responded to the scene of the wreck. The collision involved two vehicles, and authorities confirmed that one officer was killed in the crash.
At 11:49 p.m., the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office identified the deceased officer as 37-year-old Matthew Rhoden. The second officer involved in the incident was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, though further details regarding their condition have not been disclosed.
