Owensville, MO (September 30, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on September 29, 2024, at approximately 4:40 PM on Blocks Branch Road in Gasconade County, resulting in the death of a young occupant and injuries to the driver. The incident involved a 2021 Polaris Ranger that overturned in a field.
According to the investigation conducted by Trooper T.W. Brewer and Corporal B.J. Blakenbeker, the vehicle was being driven by an 11-year-old female juvenile from Owensville, who was wearing a safety device at the time of the crash. Unfortunately, the vehicle lost control, leading to the rollover. The driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Mercy Washington Hospital by Gerald EMS for medical attention.
Tragically, another 11-year-old female occupant was ejected during the rollover and was pronounced dead at 5:15 PM by Gasconade County Coroner Jeff Arnold. The young girl was transported to Gottenstroeter Funeral Home following the incident. This accident marks the third fatal crash for Troop F in September and the 34th fatality for the year 2024.
